Alchemy, from the perspective of the human spirit, is concerned particularly with the conversion from ego-centric living to soul-centric living.
All base metals have value, but gold is the most highly regarded of all precious metals. The scientific-based alchemist is concerned with the conversion of base metals to a higher composition (preferably gold) by introducing a process that involves various chemical interactions + heat which dissolve the structures, allowing them to re-form at a higher level of composition.
All human beings function from the influence of the ego, and just like base metals – we all have our specific composition of personality traits and conditioned behavior patterns that can bring us some positive outcomes in life.
But these fixations and attachments are limitations and often bring struggle and suffering. The alchemist of the soul is concerned with assisting the person in moving through a process of conversion from ego-based living to soul based living which offers the greatest level of freedom and creative expression.
